How the economy has effected Sesame Street

What turned this picture of love and kindness into

This picture of evil and death????

The Sesame Workshop the nonprofit producer of “Sesame Street” and other kids’ programs, has fallen on hard times and is cutting about one-fifth of its work force because of the economic downturn.

The New York-based company said that it is eliminating 67 of 355 staff positions. Sesame Workshop gets revenue from product licensing and the sale of its programs to PBS and syndication.

The company is also funded by government agencies, foundations and corporations. Total revenue was $145 million in 2011, with operating expenses totaling $141 million, according to the company’s Web site.

The the salary cuts and layoffs have left some at the The Sesame Workshop to fear for their own safety.

A note was left on our producer’s car window. It read as follows “Some on the employees (picture above) are very angry about all the cuts and layoffs. I fear for my safety at times my contract has a golden parachute clause in it”. This employee wanted his identity to stay anonymous.

The next day when we received the new “Sesame Street” promotional pictures released to the public one character was strangely missing.

So we found a old promtional picture from our files and compared the two.

Yes, we discovered one big character was missing!!!!

Professionally edited out one might say.

We did not know the significance of our statement until days later.

Sad to say the character was found shortly days later on a New York city bench. The corridor report on the cause of death has not been completed or released as of this writing.

We were able to get a comment from a Mr.Elmo whom seem to be the leader of the group. He said “Elmo sad, Elmo very sad, but Elmo think maybe some birds should keep their Big Beaks Shut!!!”
